My
subjects are intimately known to me. They
record my life and my basic belief that nature is man's truest source of peace.
I draw only scenes familiar to me, sometimes visiting and sketching a
particular place several times to find out the mood of the environment.
My work grows from the simplest of sketches, if that sketch has captured
the elusive beauty that stimulated me originally.
That is why it is essential for me to establish direct contact with my
subject and the area surrounding it.
In
my art works, I always view the picture as a whole, the striking elements of the
scene. I explore the physical and
spiritual world in which we live to devise ways to express my discoveries
creatively. One has only to look at
the history of art to realize that man's ideas, feelings, beliefs and concerns
mold the world in which he lives. The artist in any culture searches for answers
to the questions of his age and expresses them dimensional through application
of varied media and technology. The
cultural ambience of any period provides a matrix for its expressive content.
